In this article I address the concern of philosophy and medicine in relation to the link between dietetics and ethics. To achieve that, the article is divided into four sections. The first three focus on exposing the thinking of Hippocrates, Friedrich Nietzsche and, Michel Foucault and their reflections on health, human nature, nutrition self-control and the affirmation of autonomy. The last section is dedicated, on one hand, to mark common points among different reflections and, on the other, to reclaim the dietetics as a philosophical problem and fundamental aspect of health
