The legacy of Michel Foucault for contemporary criticism of neoliberalism

Abstract

This article aims to revisit Michel Foucault’s critical genealogy concerning the themes of biopolitics and neoliberalism to outline his legacy for contemporary criticism of our systems of power. To this end, we will start with the theme of freedom and its invocation in the context of contemporary forms of authoritarian government, then proceed to explore the topic through Foucault’s analytics of power.
