Marcelo Raffin es Doctor en Filosofía por la Universidad de París VIII, Investigador en Filosofía del CONICET en el Instituto de Investigaciones Gino Germani y Profesor Titular Regular de Filosofía en la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales, UBA. Ha publicado, entre otros libros, Droits de l’homme, sujet et devenir. L’expérience contemporaine du Cône sud d’Amérique latine (2017), La noción de política en Agamben, Esposito y Negri (editor, 2015), Estética y política en la filosofía de Giorgio Agamben (editor, 2015) y Obsesiones y fantasmas de la Argentina. El antisemitismo, Evita, los desaparecidos y Malvinas en la ficción literaria (junto a A. Melo, 2005).
This article analyzes the Foucauldean interpretation of the figure of Socrates in the production of truth as parrhesia with the aim of examining the role played by the Athenian philosopher, on the one hand, in the development of the notion of culture and government of self and others and, on the other, in the relationship between ethics and politics, proposed by Foucault with regard to truth-telling as a fundamental piece of political creation. The hypothesis of this article consists of a questioning of the Foucauldean interpretation of a non-political commitment by Socrates as the Socratic parrhesiastic gesture which Foucault analyzes at the level of ethics in terms of a preoccupation for the government and the aesthetics of existence implies a political dimension because, even in this analysis in principle purely “ethical”, self government entails the government of others and the technique of existence is crossed by alterity in an exercise of creation, production and transformation of oneself and the world together with others.
