Focus and Scope
The journal DORSAL publishes original research articles from different scientific disciplines that use Michel Foucault's theoretical tools or focus on the study of various aspects of his work, or on the projections of Foucaultian work in both the humanities and the social sciences.
Section Policies
Articles
DORSAL publishes original articles in Spanish, Portuguese, English, Italian, French and German. Submission of papers to DORSAL implies that they have not been previously published, and that they are not currently being evaluated by any other journal.
Toolbox
This section is dedicated to the translation of essays/articles relevant to the research on Foucault's oeuvre and his unpublished texts.
Critical notes
In this section, Dorsal publishes original critical reflections on works that address Foucaultian philosophy or develop its themes. The critical notes should focus on the analysis of a work and, also, contribute with the personal statement of its own author.
Critical notes will be evaluated by members of the Editorial Board.
Reviews
Dorsal publishes original reviews of recently published works about Michel Foucault's philosophy.
Peer Review Process
Articles received will be peer-reviewed under a "double-blind" system. This means that the evaluators are competent researchers (a PhD level is required) in the subject matter corresponding to the article. In addition, the evaluators apply a common evaluation guideline and do not know the identity, institutional affiliation or other personal data of the authors at the time of evaluating the article. The identity of the evaluators is also safeguarded.
The journal will have a minimum period of 90 days and a maximum of 180 days from the reception of the article to inform of its acceptance, rejection, or acceptance conditioned to corrections.
Reviews, materials and critical notes are evaluated by the journal's Editorial Board.
At least 50% of the evaluators will be different from the members of the editorial committee and will not belong to the publishing entities.
Open Access Policy
Dorsal provides immediate, unrestricted access to all contents published in this on-line edition. There are no processing charges.
Archive
The Journal deposits all its articles in ZENODO to ensure their preservation.
This journal uses the LOCKSS system to create an archival system distributed among collaborating libraries, enabling them to create permanent archives of the journal for conservation and restoration purposes. More…
The journal also allows and invites the depositing of articles in institutional repositories of the authors and in other repositories of free access.
