Mauricio Pelegrini é brasileiro, bacharel em Ciências Sociais pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP), mestre e doutorando em História Cultural pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Autor de “Michel Foucault e a Revolução Iraniana” (Intermeios, São Paulo, 2019) e de diversos artigos sobre Foucault, principalmente sobre os temas do neoliberalismo, aleturgias, feminismo e Irã.
El artículo parte del intercambio público de mensajes entre Michel Foucault y una lectora iraní anónima, de pseudónimo Atoussa H, para mostrar cómo la controversia entre los dos fue el objetivo principal de una crítica supuestamente feminista a los reportajes iraníes que Foucault escribió en 1978-1979. A partir de la definición post-estructuralista de la categoría del género, se procura mostrar que tal crítica esencializa las definiciones del concepto de mujer, siendo totalmente opuesta a la analítica del poder foucaultiana. Tanto Foucault como el movimiento feminista iraní fueron opositores a la dictadura del Sha, y también fuertes críticos a la dictadura teocrática luego instalada por el ayatolá Jomeiny. De esta forma, se concluye que el movimiento insurreccional iraní analizado por Foucault era múltiple y fragmentado, no connivente con la persecución a los derechos humanos ocurridos después de la Revolución.
