La igualdad democrática y la justificación de la democracia de propietarios como alternativa al Estado de bienestar capitalista

Resumen

El objetivo de este artículo es examinar las razones por las cuales John Rawls considera incompatible su concepción de la justicia como equidad con el modelo del Estado de bienestar capitalista, a pesar de las reiteradas comparaciones y aparentes similitudes entre ambos. En contraposición, Rawls propone como régimen socioeconómico una democracia de propietarios. En primer lugar, se ofrece una breve revisión del marco histórico, político y filosófico en el que se sitúa este debate. A continuación, se presentan y desarrollan los argumentos que evidencian las limitaciones del Estado de bienestar capitalista para asegurar una igualdad y reciprocidad democrática.
